Thanks to the continued generosity of the Walther Cancer Foundation as well as the Charles and Daneen Stiefel Discovery Fund for Cancer Research and the Stephanie and John Williams Discovery Fund for Cancer Research, we are pleased to announce the awardees of our 2020 research and training programs.

The Cancer Cure Ventures (CCV) program was designed to stimulate novel multi-disciplinary integrative cancer research and generate high-quality results to support extramural grant applications and/or to develop intellectual property. The winning teams are:

• Hsueh-Chia Chang (Bayer Corporation Professor, Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, Department of Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering, College of Engineering, Harper Cancer Research Institute) and Xin Lu (Boler Assistant Professor, Department of Biological Science, Harper Cancer Research Institute)
• Sangpil Yoon (Assistant Professor, Department of Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering) and Siyuan Zhang (Associate Professor, Department of Biological Sciences)

The goal of the Interdisciplinary Interface Training Program (IITP) is to establish a cancer-focused integrative interdisciplinary training environment for highly qualified and productive graduate student applicants. Awardees will conduct collaborative research across at least two scientific fields and are expected to submit extramural grant applications to further their training. The winning graduate students are:

• Francisco Huizar
• Maria Cristina Miranda Vergara
