Collaboration in Translational Research Pilot Grant Program

The Indiana CTSI is seeking applicants for the Collaboration in Translational Research (CTR) Pilot Grant Program. The objective of the Indiana CTSI CTR pilot grant program is to foster and encourage collaboration across the Indiana CTSI partner institutions (IU, Purdue, and Notre Dame) and to initiate or continue translational research projects that have very strong and immediate potential to develop into larger, externally funded research programs, or generate novel intellectual property (IP).
Proposed projects should have participation by two (or more) principal investigators representing at least two of the sponsoring affiliates for this program. Sponsoring affiliates include: Indiana University School of Medicine (IUSM), IUPUI (non-IUSM), Indiana University-Bloomington, Purdue University-West Lafayette, and University of Notre Dame.
Applications to this program are limited to a total of $75,000 and are 24 months (2 years) in duration.
Proposed projects should have at least two (or more) principal investigators / collaborators with equal contribution, from at least two of the five sponsoring affiliates for this program. Sponsoring affiliates include:

CHeP Community Based Research Awards

The Indiana CTSI CHeP is soliciting proposals for collaborative research projects focused on topics that affect health equity. This RFA will support projects of community-university partnerships from a diverse array of geographical areas and campuses throughout the state. These projects are to pursue one or both of the following: (1) to implement research that has the potential to identify or reduce health or health care inequities or (2) to perform a needed evaluation of an existing health-related program that has the potential to affect health equity. Health equity briefly defined is “when all people have the opportunity to thrive and no one is limited in achieving comprehensive health and wellness because of their social position or any other social factors/determinant of health” (ASTHO, 2011). Projects that propose achieving their objectives by changing (or demonstrating the potential to change) policy, systems, and/or the environment are encouraged. Both community and academic researchers are eligible to apply as project lead. However, there MUST be both an academic partner and a community partner on the project. Both partners must currently be working in an Indiana-based institution / organization. Eligible project leaders must have the skills, knowledge, and resources necessary to carry out the proposed research.

Indiana Drug Discovery Alliance

The Molecular Therapeutics Program, a part of the Indiana CTSI, seeks applications for a competitive program that will provide funds and essential consultation to support the early stage development of therapeutics. This opportunity is provided in concert with the Indiana Drug Discovery Alliance (IDDA), an advisory panel and clearinghouse for drug discovery and development resources at the Indiana-CTSI member institutions of Indiana University, Purdue University and the University of Notre Dame.
Call for Proposals: The Molecular Therapeutics Program will support the new collaborations and/or the use of core facilities that enable the translation of fundamental research related to drug discovery. Critical project feedback will be provided from a team of experienced industry and academic experts on the group’s internal advisory committee, as well as through ad-hoc, project-specific pharmaceutical expert reviewers.
A detailed budget is not required at this time. Support projects will develop a budget of up to $15,000 in consultation with the IDDA.
Greater Plains Collaborative Clinical Data Research Network Pilot Program

The Greater Plains Collaborative (GPC) is a network of twelve leading medical centers in eight states committed to a shared vision of improving healthcare delivery through ongoing learning, adoption of evidence-based practices, and active research dissemination. With support from our Clinical Translational Science Institutes’ leadership (NIH CTSA and CTR programs), the GPC network is seeking to broaden awareness and utilization by investigators at its partner institutions to capitalize on our heightened patient engagement and unique data resources.
The purpose of the pilot program is to provide modest support that will allow an investigator the opportunity to develop sufficient preliminary data utilizing the GPC’s data infrastructure as a basis for a larger application for independent research support for the investigator and the network. It is not intended to support or supplement an ongoing research project of an established investigator. A proposed pilot and feasibility study should present a testable hypothesis and clearly delineate 1) the question being asked; 2) the procedures to be followed; 3) how the data will be analyzed; 4) the linkage to the national FOA/RFA for which the pilot is strengthening competitiveness; and 5) the intended submission date for responding to the FOA/RFA.An emphasis is being placed on multi-institutional collaboration across the various GPC institutions that strengthen relationships and patient-centered collaborations amongst investigators and patients across the GPC institutions.
Please note, due to their affiliation with the Indiana CTSI, this RFA is open to PIs from Indiana University, Purdue University and the University of Notre Dame.
