The Research and Training clusters are a key component of the IBMS program, as they organize faculty members and their laboratories around shared interests, promoting interactions with other laboratories and encouraging networking and collaboration. The clusters reflect the diverse areas of research excellence at the University of Notre Dame. The majority of laboratories participate in more than one cluster, underscoring the interdisciplinary nature of biomedical science at Notre Dame. Participation in a cluster does not limit IBMS students to laboratories within any particular department, and first-year students in the program may shift their cluster affiliation as their interests evolve.
